My Vintage Film Recommendations 🎥 🎞️

Grab your projectors and your popcorns—If you’re sick of clean, HD, modern movies like me, here are my list of vintage classic films that I can rewatch over and over again. Also perfect for days you want to stay in!

In no particular order, here are the films:

🎬 Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)
If you have yet to watch this, PLEASE DO. The outfits, the set, the romance, this film is just perfect. I love Audrey Hepburn’s Givenchy black dress in this film. Audrey Hepburn singing “Moon River” at the window is still my favourite scene of all time.

🎬 Some Like it Hot (1959)
This is my no.1 film by Marilyn. Though it’s a black-and-white film, it’s so entertaining that you don’t colour at all. If you enjoyed White Chicks, this is the OG version. Almost every scene is HILARIOUS. The film follows 2 poor musicians, who are male, but could only find openings for a female band, try to remember White Chicks and you’ll know why this film is so funny.

🎬 Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)
This is where the iconic Marilyn Monroe performance of “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” came from. This film revolves around Marilyn’s and Jane Russell’s adventures as showgirls and how they navigate their different values for their potential husbands.

🎬 Funny Face (1957)
This film, to me, is the OG of magazine/fashion movies. Funny Face follows Audrey Hepburn as she transforms from a serious bookstore girl to the top fashion model in Quality magazine. I loved watching the photoshoots and how she looks absolutely DIVINE. It’s also really nice to be reminded how photography has changed drastically—from film cameras to phone cameras, it was so important to get that one shot right in the past.

🎬 How to Marry a Millionaire (1953)
Starring Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall, and Betty Grable, the film is set in Newyork City where the 3 beautiful gold diggers set out to find their millionaire sugar daddies. I laughed so hard because despite how old this film is, you’ll still find similarities regarding the hunt for sugar daddies.

You can obviously tell I’m obsessed with Audrey Hepburn & Marilyn Monroe!!! Their charisma's are so timeless that I still watch their films today. Let me know if you watched any of these and which you like in the comments! 🥰

With Love,
Chara
