Why I (try to) Meditate Everyday✨
I make meditation a part of my to-do list everyday. For 17-20 min, I try my best to focus on a meditation soundtrack and sit still. It’s the only time I get to hit pause on all the never-ending thoughts in my head. I’ve been at it for consistently over a year yet it doesn’t get easier to sit down to meditate but here is WHY I STILL make an effort to do it:
☁️ Quiet Mind & Increased Patience
The regular breathing combined with the pausing of constant thinking and over-thinking helps the brain forget all the worries and stress. Meditation reminds me that nothing changes in this period of meditation and you can always work on anything that is in your mind after the session.
☁️ Increased Awareness—More in the Moment
As I am more present about my breathing and my body, meditation helps you become more mindful about everything.
☁️ New Inspiration
After a good clear headspace for 20 min, I usually find myself more inspired and filled with new ideas.
☁️ Change in Perspective
There is this floating feeling when I’m meditating. Sometimes I feel like I’m floating above my body and sometimes above the building and sometimes in the clouds. This helps me view everything from a bird’s eye view perspective—LITERALLY ZOOMING OUT. Reminds me that if we zoom out on everything, is anything worth to be negative about? I’ve gotten lots of changes in my perspective about life through these sessions. I realised it is probably because these 17-20 mins everyday is the only time I quiet my mind from societal norms and day-to-day troubles and maybe then, my true guidance from the universe or from my deep subconscious mind can be heard.
I might sound abit woohooo about this, but the benefits of meditation are endless—you really have to practice it to find out its goodness. Highly recommend it for anyone who struggles with anxiety, feels stuck and uninspired, and overthinks. A little quiet time everyday really does go a long way.
